Alex Smith, the No. 1 pick in this year's N.F.L. draft, has agreed to a six-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Smith will receive $24 million guaranteed and incentives that could make the base $49 million contract worth up to $57 million.

Although I would have gone for Rodgers. In the long run this guy should be better. Is there ever a chance we'll be a supreme as the early 80 and early 90's? Doubtful, but this guy should help us compete 3 yrs from now. I am not sure I can wait that long, maybe I will root for the patriots or giants? hmmm which one should it be
