cricket report: ricky ponting...

love the ashes although i still have no idea what is going on. still, this guy ricky ponting batted for six and half hours and set a world record and that should not be taken too lightly. actually seems pretty incredible to me. sort of want to watch the next one of these early at a cricket bar somewhere. if only mac fu wasn't in miami i know he'd be right there with me.

Aug. 16 (Bloomberg) -- After a run of low scores and having his leadership skills questioned, Australia captain Ricky Ponting found his form when the team needed it most.

A match that began with England skipper Michael Vaughan smashing 166 ended with his opposite number grafting 156 yesterday as Australia, set a world record 423 to win, reached 371-9 to draw the third cricket Test at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Ponting, who averaged below 24 runs in five previous Ashes innings, batted for 6 1/2 hours to leave the series tied at 1-1 with two to play. Defeat would have taken Australia within one loss of its first Ashes series defeat since 1987.

``That was one of my best knocks, not just a match-saving one,'' Ponting, 30, said at the post-match news conference. ``It is satisfying to put your hand up when it matters and do the things the team requires as a batter and as a leader.''

The teams have a 10-day break before the series resumes Aug. 25 in Nottingham, with the final match starting Sept. 8 at The Oval in London. Top-ranked Australia, which has won 14 and drawn two Test series since losing to India in 2001, needs one win to secure the Ashes for a record-extending ninth straight series.

They do not have cricket bars. Only Tea Shops. I bet you could go watch it with Moby at TeaNY. I am sure he like cricket.

Eight Mile Creek shows cricket all the time. Sometimes you'll see a bunch of cabs parked on that street while they are all in the basement watching as the players reach tea.
