cricket report: nightwatchman and time wasting edition...

New Zealand enjoyed a crushing win over Sri Lanka in the second Test in Wellington to take the series 1-0.

James Franklin struck in the 11th over of the day when he removed Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu for 16. Nightwatchman Farveez Maharoof offered two-and-a-half hours worth of stubborn resistance before falling for 36.

After lunch Franklin claimed Mahela Jayawardene for 13, caught by wicket-keeper Brendon McCullum, and then clean bowled Kumar Sangakkara for 45.
