belated rangers report...
sorry for the lack of action on the blizzy, but work has been busy and the home computer has been down. anyway, the rangers lost to the habs on mon. night, but are still in first place. fredeeky's love for the rangers is at its highest point since 1994 and barry beck is totally responsible.
After a strong start and finish to the game on Saturday night where the rangers won 5-2 over the Habs in Montreal, the teams skate at the garden tonight. The Player/Coach was nice enough to invite me to the game this evening so I am particularly pumped. Expect the Rangers to come out agitated and motivated this evening to finish off the home and home series. Craig Rivet of Montreal had a dirty third period hit on Martin Rucinsky on Saturday so he will be a marked man tonight.
Rucinsky will be sidelined for 2 to 4 weeks with a sprained MCL. Not good news for the Blueshirts who have relied heavily on Rucinsky on the power play this year. I believe however that this will allow the Rangers to feature Fedor Federov who played well in Montreal. The Rangers were out played physically by the Habs and they can't continue to get by without stepping up their physical game.
Look for Ortmeyer, Rucchin and Kasparitus to come out looking to take the body early and often. They need to set a tone that the Rangers are not going to continue to take a beating along the boards. However, they will have to be careful not to take stupid penalties as the Habs have solid offensive fire power.
Thursday night, the Rangers play the Devils in the Swamp. That will be a big rivalry game as well and Martin Brodeur is out so we should feast upon the Devils back-up Clemensen.
News Notes and Musings: Jagr leads the league with 11 goals and Lundquist continues to shine and has captured the hearts and minds of the Rangers faithful. Henrik the Sweede has come to be affectionately known as "Henry" amongst the garden faithful. It is also important to point out that Lundquist is now a member of the tripledilz fantasy squad.
