what the f?
The Royals, the team with the worst record in baseball, swept three games from the Yankees for the first time since June 3-5, 1994, and for the first time in Kansas City since 1990. The Royals had not swept a series from anybody since last July, going 78 consecutive series without one, a streak exceeded by only six teams since 1900. And the sweep gave Kansas City a 3-0 record under its new manager, Buddy Bell.
It gets worse for the Yankees. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, this was the third time in franchise history they had been swept by the team with the worst record in the major leagues. The others were the Detroit Tigers in May 2000 and the Philadelphia Athletics in August 1937.
