AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 16 - If all the Detroit Pistons did this week was poke and prod and irritate the San Antonio Spurs into uncharacteristic fits of disarray, they would have accomplished quite a bit. What they have done, in fact, goes way beyond that. In the course of 72 hours, the Pistons stripped the Spurs of virtually everything that makes them great.

For a second straight game, the Pistons were at their hustling, swarming, harassing best Thursday, a formula that again turned the Spurs into a fumbling, misfiring ball of chaos.

Faced with immense defensive pressure, the Spurs again wilted, and the Pistons won their second straight rout, 102-71, to tie the N.B.A. finals at two games apiece.
