MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Myrtle Beach Pelicans fans entered the history books on Tuesday night as 1,827 fans simultaneously donned Groucho Marx glasses, breaking the World Record for the "Most People Wearing Groucho Marx Glasses At The Same Time."

Within the crowd of over 2,500, nearly 1,900 fans donned the funny looking glasses during the record attempt. With the Pelicans out to an early lead in the middle of the third inning fans were instructed to put their glasses on at the same time and to wear them for a total of 15 minutes in an effort to break the previous record of 937 set back in 2003 in East Lansing, Michigan.

With the clock ticking, the video cameras rolling, and snapshots being taken around the ballpark the World Record-goers stuck with it for over 15 minutes. At 7:55 pm the crowd roared in achievement.

"The process was not as easy as it might seem" said Matt O'Brien General Manager of the Pelicans. "On one hand we started on paperwork in October of last year. On the other, the mustache itched and the nose was larger than I'm accustomed too."
