the reggie roby public television report...
Culture. I LOVE IT.
I am pretty sure you all know by now I do not have cable television.
Yes I work for Time Warner and No this is not some sort of self imposed chinese water torture. I am just too lazy. This is all about to change because I am getting guilty of stealing other peoples Internet. I love Wi-Fi keep it free! Anyways the lack of cable forces me into a conundrum from time to time, besides CSI there is very little programming I care for during the week. However I love PBS and thought I would fill you in on some recent viewings and give a little culture back to the everyone.
There are two movies that I would like to talk about in more depth but the man beckons me back to the salt mines. Sometime in April a totally amazing piece about a family torn (if you can call it that) apart by the genocide in Rawanda http://www.pbs.org/previews/april/
Then there is a made for TV movie called Death of a Princess that was filmed in the early 80's but has totally captured the whole issue of the Arab conflict that we as Americans are just starting to deal with. Shows all points of view from extreme to secular in all countries with major Muslim populations < http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/princess/ >

First off I love animals. Nature has been amazing me with all types of crazy programming especially a series called Deep Jungle which will amaze anyone on the technical merit of the camera work alone, not to mention all the knowledge you will learn on the world's Jungles. Ocasionally there are some adorable animals, but reader be warned there are a lot of creepy bugs as well.
Battlefield Britian is the next show I would like to draw attention to. I am a huge History fan. I love reading and imaging battles, debates, sizes of the armies, the technology, art and clothing of the time. Well, this show is F-ing ridiculou. There are maps, examples using modern materials, re-enactments, you name it they have it. Not to mention It spans all the major battles held in Britian I think ending with Hitlers bombing of london. It is hosted by a father son team which can be a little corny at times but otherwise it is great.

who's better than you reggie?
Reggie,
did you see Camp Pasquaney Alum Ed Norton's piece on PBS this past month about our changing ecosystems?
I bet Barry wishes Deeky took the time to dress his post up with spiffy images and links....
reggie gets advent style photos cause he asks for and specifies where the photos whould go. not fronting on the barry beck report at all. loved it.
I love animals. I like 'em even more in high def.. Sometime watching the discovery channel in my bed, I drift away to the jungle (via my telly). What a powerful tool. Great job flower child, keep up the good vibes. happy trails.
