it had to end sometime...
SEATTLE, May 18 - The magic vanished for the Yankees in the sixth inning Wednesday night, and soon their 10-game winning streak did, too.
With the bases loaded and a three-ball count on Hideki Matsui - the man Manager Joe Torre considers his most reliable run-producer - Seattle reliever Shigetoshi Hasagawa threw three consecutive strikes to fan Matsui and end the inning. That development, with the Yankees nursing a two-run lead, inspired the Mariners, who tied the score with two unearned runs in the sixth and went on to win, 7-6.
Jason Giambi struck out looking with the bases loaded to end the game.
