better late than never...
a belated entry from hipster in residence and everyone's favorite lawyer high life:
Props on two full albums this week:
1. Arcade Fire - "Funeral" - When this Montreal based quintet opened for the Unicorns this past spring at the Knitting Factory it was the first time in awhile that I was blown away by a band I knew nothing about. Their first full length in released in the states shows serious promise. I guess all Canadians aren't boring...
2. Talking Heads - "The Name of This Band is Talking Heads" - newly expanded reissue of their 1982 live anthology. This two CD set contains 33 live tracks recorded over four years and documents a band at a four year creative peak. Their albums are almost unanimously classic, however the Talking Heads were clearly a spectacle to behold live. With all of the crappy reunion tours these days, their notable absence might be a shame or it is a blessing because their legacy is clearly untouchable.
